Bill Henson interviews Pastor Richard Rhodes to hear how and why Grace Chapel is participating in the “Shield of Silence” to protect students at Lexington High School (MA) from the hateful message of Westboro Baptist Church. Richard serves as Pastor of Outreach and has worked with a number of religious, secular and governmental organizations to promote participation in the Shield of Silence this FRI March 13 from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm at Lexington High School. To learn more about Grace Chapel, visit http://grace.org.
IMPORTANT: Many people are likely to participate in the Shield of Silence without having received the required training in nonviolence. If it a free country and you can do that. Yet it is critically important that you understand that our goal is NOT to respond back in hate or anger: our goal is to respond in loving silence. If you show up this FRI without having been trained, simply link arms with those who have been trained and model yourself after them. If you let your anger overtake you, our witness of God’s love will be lost and you could get arrested. Our Christian presence should reflect loving silence but in that silence we can pray for the Lexington High School students, those touched by homosexuality, and yes - even the Westboro Baptist Church members who will be screaming their hateful messages. It is possible that 4 of the 6 WBC members will actually be minors. They too need our love! I hope you will join us.

If you live in the Boston area, join Lead Them Home host Bill Henson to form a peaceful “shield” around Lexington High School this Friday, March 13, 2009, from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm. Fred Phelps’ Westboro Baptist Church will be conducting one of its hateful demonstrations that often includes signs that read “God hates fags.” Our four ministry vision principles are to: SHARE the Gospel in the GLBT Community; CARE for families in the church who have GLBT loved ones; HEAL those in the church voluntarily seeking help with unwanted same-sex attraction (SSA); and PROTECT the value and dignity of all GLBT persons. Our participation as a “shield” of protection around the high schoolers will serve as one of our PROTECT events. We invite you to join us. Listen to today’s program for more information. NOTE: You must attend non-violence training TONIGHT, March 10th, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. To do so, register at: http://tinyurl.com/nonviolencetraining09. We hope to link arms with you this FRI at Lexington High School. Today’s program provides more information on why FOTOS is involved in this event.

Bill Henson helps Christians understand a more meaningful way to respond to events like Day of Silence and Laramie Project. Each year, we prove very “shockable” to the world around us when we freak out over such events. Surely there is a more thoughtful and Christ-centered response: but to offer our world a glimpse of Jesus, we’ll have to think ahead and be prepared. Listen and find out how you can respond. Bill Henson hosts the innovative and redemptive daily radio program, Lead Them Home, and speaks at churches and universities across America. Invite Bill to speak - simply Contact Us today!
